Owner Basit Memon of Paramus also owns Aladdin Glass & Vape stores in Paramus, Lodi, Union and Nanuet, N.Y. Memon opened Phat Platters with Yousuf Ghaffar.

The restaurant specializes in halal food, and because its owners found it difficult to find halal in the area, BoozyBurbs reports.

Chef Sgar Sharma has worked in Hawaii and California after culinary school.

The menu consists mainly of platters -- meats or vegetables served over rice with salad, pita and white sauce -- and gyros. All come with choices of chicken, beef, falafel (or mix), and burgers, wings and sides.

Phat Platters expects to remain open until 2 a.m. once more employees are hired.
