FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Fair Lawn's Center for Modern Dance Education is having a widely varied performance next Saturday.
One highlight of the annual celebration of dance is "One Love." This new work by special guest artist Candace Hundley Kamate was created around narratives of personal spiritual journeys and findings of inner peace.
Hundley-Kamate describes the work as
a series of photographic images, poetry excerpts, testimonials and dances choreographed to illustrate paths of meditation and spiritual awakening of a higher state of mind, body and spirit based on the idea that a higher self grows from within. The main concept is to create a piece ... that shares stories of how the human spirit can evolve through personal experiences that also use the power of meditation.
The show was made possible by a grant from the NJ State Council on the Arts, CMDE's website states.
Advance tickets are $17 for adults and $7 for kids, seniors and people with disabilities. At the door, they're $20 and $10, respectively. Proceeds from the concert will benefit CMDE's scholarships and free programs for underserved communities.
There are two performances, at 2 and 5 p.m., at the Fair Lawn Community Theater, 10-10 20th St., in Fair Lawn. For a listing of the components in each performance, click here.
