GLEN ROCK, N.J. – The Glen Rock VFW Post 850 will have an American flag retirement ceremony at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 18 in the parking lot of the Main Line train station in Glen Rock.
The ceremony is open to the public, and residents of Glen Rock and the surrounding communities are welcome to attend.
When used, American flags become worn out, damaged or otherwise no longer serviceable. They should never just be thrown away as regular trash. Instead, such flags should be retired by incineration with dignity, honor and recognition.
Prior to June 18, members of the community who have a flag in need of retirement are asked to deposit it in the receptacle at the front door of the old Main Line Train Station.
