FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Trying to navigate through town when most of Fair Lawn Avenue is closed has proven to be a nightmare for motorists.

But getting through the project that began last Thursday is just as frustrating for workers, who police said are behind because they're stopping frequently for cars coming in and out of businesses.

So, the question remains, when will it end?

"We're hoping Saturday," FLPD Sergeant Brian Metzler said. "But Friday's rain might push it to Monday."

There are two different crews on the road — milling and paving, Metzler explained. They usually start at 7 a.m. and stop at 6 p.m.

"The area is tough to get through," Metlzer said. "So is keeping cars off of the freshly-paved roadway."
