GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Keeping up the tradition, the Glen Rock Pops will open the Independence Day celebration on Sunday, July 3, with a free concert on the lawn of Borough Hall.
The program will include an evening of legendary marches, popular patriotic songs, and favorite light classics led by guest conductor Christopher DeWilde. The orchestra is comprised of musicians from throughout Bergen and Passaic counties.
The IDA raffle drawing will be held during intermission. You can buy tickets at Kilroy's on the weekends or by emailing email@example.com.
Along with the nurturing partnership of the Community School since 1975 and the combined talents of the musicians, the Pops have now become one of the area's favorite listening groups.
DeWilde is currently the director of instrumental music and is the band director at Wayne Hills High School. He is a graduate of William Paterson University with a bachelor of music in classical performance and education. DeWilde has been affiliated with the Hawthorne Caballeros Drum & Bugle Corps, the Ridgewood Concert Band, and the Hanover Wind Symphony.
The performance will begin at 7:30 p.m. Bring blankets and chairs. In case of rain, the performance will take place in the Council Chambers.
The concert is sponsored by the Glen Rock Central Business District Commission.
