"Besides being a fan, I saw the show on Broadway with [lead singer] Billie Joe Armstrong and just fell in love," the former OLT stage manager said.
"It was a combination of my favorite things: Broadway and rocking out. It was like being at a concert with a story."
"American Idiot" is a two-time Tony Award-winning musical based on the pop-punk band Green Day's album of the same name.
The show features all the songs off the platinum selling album, as well as ones from the follow up "21st Century Breakdown."
"It's got love, drugs, war and rock and roll," Lichter, 31, said.
The musical revolves around Johnny, Tunny and Will, who struggle to find meaning in a post-9/11 world, organizers said.
Performances are scheduled for Nov. 18, 19 and 20.
Dawn Cardona will be the producer, Charles Santoro will be the musical director and Mollie Gash the choreographer.
