"Each Race Series takes place once a week and offers age appropriate running events including the 50-yard dash, the quarter-mile, the half-mile and the one-mile run," according to the program website. "Kids compete each week of the Series for a chance to earn points, and at the end of the Series, the top boy and girl with the most points in their respective age division receive a trophy."

But all participants receive a medal and gift bag for their achievements, courtesy of the program's sponsors.

The spring 2016 dates are on Sundays and include April 10, 17, 24 and May 1 and 8. Each run is set to begin at 5 p.m. But participants are encouraged to arrive at 4:15 p.m. if you haven't already pre-registered or if you haven't picked up your race bag at Race Bag Pick-Up Night.

The registration fee is $35 and covers the entire five-week series. You can register online here. Checks are preferred for on-site registrations. Don't forget to wear your sneakers and comfy clothes.

The run sessions will be at the Wilde Memorial Park, at 683 Maple Ave., in Glen Rock.
