Pit Bull Awareness Month: Fair Lawn Rescuer Busts Breed Myths

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Steve Quilliam of Fair Lawn will be among the first to tell you that pit bulls get a bad rap.

And that's not just because he has tons of cute ones up for adoption.

Quilliam has rescued upwards of 7,000 dogs with his company, Grateful Doggies, and wants you to know these three things about the bully-breed:

  • Pit Bulls are NOT inherently vicious. Actually, there are no bad dogs, only bad people.
  • Unless a Pit Bull has been trained to attack, they generally love humans.
  • Pit Bulls do everything with enthusiasm. They will love you with all their hearts.
