FAIR LAWN, N.J. – A Fair Lawn woman long known for her work helping others is herself in need after recently suffering an aneurysm.
According to a gofundme.com page set up for her benefit, Sharon Bernstein has endured several surgeries since initially being diagnosed with “bleeding in the brain.”
Bernstein’s aneurysm was corrected, but she was left with paralysis and two blood clots in her right leg, according to the page.
The conditions are complicating her recovery and have left her in a “very frightened and precarious state,” according to the page.
Along with her medical bills, a number of “unforeseen expenses” have come about, according to the page, which adds that her friends want her to recover as quickly as possible without the added burden of financial stress.
Organizers of the gofundme.com page are seeking to raise $50,000 for Bernstein's care and as of Sunday night have raised nearly $9,000.
To support Bernstein during “this critical time in her life,” her friends ask that those able and willing donate to her gofundme.com page .
