FAIR LAWN, N.J.– Ron Durso, an academic supervisor for Fair Lawn public schools, will receive the Bergen County Principals and Supervisors Association's Administrative Excellence Award next Thursday.
"I am being recognized for my dedication to community service, leadership philosophy, and administrative successes," said Durso, 39.
He's in his eighth year in the district , serving as Supervisor of Science (K-12), Engineering and Technology Education (9-12), and Physical Education and Health (K-8).
"I am proud to represent Fair Lawn and our hard working educators," said Durso, a father of two. "I am also proud to represent Bergen County school supervisors who often work behind the scenes to bring creative programs to our students and to recruit, interview, and support our teachers and support our students.
"Fair Lawn, for example, employs five subject supervisors," he added. "All but one of us is responsible for multiple departments and we all collaborate with building principals to lead the K-12 programs."
Durso is also a member of Fair Lawn's Sunrise Rotary Club , which he joined in 2008.
"When I was in high school, I was a member of the Rotary-sponsored youth group, Interact," he said."
In 2001, while teaching in Hackensack, Durso was the Interact Advisor and Honorary Rotarian.
