FAIR LAWN, N.J. – George G. White Middle School teacher Michael Rosenberg won the 2016 NSDAR New Jersey State Outstanding Teacher of American History Award.
He received the award Saturday at The Polly Wyckoff-David Demarest Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution’s 90th anniversary celebration.
Rosenberg was honored during the same ceremony as Fair Lawn Mayor John Cosgrove, who won the Distinguished Citizen Award. Rosenberg said winning the same night Cosgrove was honored was, “pretty amazing because I’m pretty good friends with ‘Cos.’ ” Both are members of the Sunrise Rotary.
“I don’t think I do anything differently than other teachers other than the fact that I work hard and the kids just eat up learning about our country. It’s an easy history to teach, because they’re learning about us. It sells itself,” Rosenberg said.
Rosenberg is a sixth-grade Social Studies teacher who has taught for 12 years at George G. White Middle School in Hillsdale. A Fair Lawn resident, he has been a nine-year member of the Fair Lawn School Board. He received his political science degree from Ramapo College.
