Fair Lawn Woman Launches Recovery Fund For Family Following Fatal Crash

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — More than $40,000 had been raised in less than 24 hours on a GoFundMe page launched by a Fair Lawn woman for relatives severely injured in a recent car accident.

Amanda D Ayala lost her grandmother in Wednesday's crash, which occurred in the Dominican Republic, and her aunt, uncle and cousin are in critical condition.

"In just two days, they have had at least 10 surgeries between the three of them," the page says.

"It's taking an even larger toll on my aunt because she has Lupus, an autoimmune disease which makes recovery even harder. To make matters worse, my 16-year-old cousin is in a coma, undergoing several surgeries due to internal bleeding and spinal injuries."

Their insurance only covers a portion of the medical costs given that the accident happened outside of the U.S.
