Along the parade route, spectators will see volunteers pushing shopping carts and others collecting money. The monetary donations will go to benefit the Center for Food Action.

Donations will go to benefit Bergen County residents who do not have enough to eat and go hungry every day. The collected food items will go to the Social Services Association (SSA).

“It is not often that one sees shopping carts as part of a 4th of July Parade,” Pastor Bruce Bassett, interim pastor of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church said in a statement. “And yet for those in Bergen County seeking to be free from hunger, it seems so very fitting.”
