GLEN ROCK, N.J.– Autism Awareness Month kicks off April 2, but Glen Rock home and business owners are already showing support.

Honors students attached blue ribbons to lamp posts across town on March 30. Four bows will adorn the pillars of Borough Hall and Glen Rock employees will receive pin-on ribbons.

Perry's Florist is making 80 royal blue bows – in addition to those that Christina Sheehan-Peck and her friends crafted . Studio 5 Salon is offering free blue hair extensions for girls.

Mathnasium, Francesca's, Gracie Cleaners, and Bagel Gourmet have also joined the cause.

"The support for families and kids gives new meaning to community. Let's keep up the momentum," Sheehan-Peck said.

Sheehan-Peck is encouraging Glen Rock residents to post pictures of their blue lights and/or ribbons on Facebook using the hashtag #LIUBGR (Light It Up Blue Glen Rock).
