But now, as Descalzi fights stage 4 ovarian cancer that has spread to her lungs, families are making sure their beloved director is being taken care of.
“She is such a caring and giving person to all the students and their families, and now in her hour of need, we want to support her as much as we can,” states a GoFundMe page created to raise funds to help cover medical costs and in-home help for Descalzi and her infant daughter, Valentina.
As of Monday afternoon, nearly $15,000 had been raised. Many families involved with The Learning Experience in Franklin Lakes, where Descalzi is director, have donated and left encouraging words.
“Thank you for caring for all of our little ones,” one family wrote.
“Thank you for taking care of our son. We love you. Get well soon,” another wrote.
