Daniel “DJ” Sullivan, died on July 1. The 57-year-old avid outdoorsman is survived by his wife of 30 years, Nancy, and their children, Kaitlyn, Justin and Brandon.

“There is nothing in the world that he loved more than his children and wife,” his niece Tracy Gough wrote on a GoFundMe page she created to raise money for his family.

According to the page, Daniel’s wife Nancy was admitted to Hackensack University Medical Center late last year, and was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer that spread to her brain.

She underwent emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor, and “continues battling this disease with a combination of chemotherapy, support of her loved ones & through pure determination,” the page states.

As Nancy grieves for her husband, she and her children are “forced to face a barrage of medical bills and mounting day to day expenses from medical treatments, prescriptions, chemotherapy and even standard day to day expenses like food and electricity,” the page states.

“We’d like to help ease at least some of this burden, so they can focus on healing both spiritually and physically,” it states.

Nearly $2,000 had been raised by Tuesday evening.
