GLEN ROCK, N.J. — Leaf removal continues in Glen Rock, weather permitting, through Thursday, Dec. 31.
Curbside leaf collection is done by voting districts and was begun by the Glen Rock Department of Public Works on Monday, Oct. 19, in Voting District 1. By Thursday, removal was complete through District 4 and began in District 5.
While the DPW aims to get through one district per day, as more leaves fall and the piles get larger and heavier, this is not always possible. Similarly, when leaf piles are smaller, collection may take place in more than one district per day. As a result, the leaf collection schedule changes frequently.
The DPW reminds residents that only leaves and biodegradable bags should be placed at the curb, at least 10 feet from storm drains. Other items such as mums, grass, pumpkins, branches and especially plastic bags are detrimental to the equipment and to the ability of the DPW to complete collections in a timely manner.
