Homeless Man Who Saved NJ Driver Buys House Using GoFundMe Money

A homeless man from Philadelphia who used his last $20 to help a New Jersey driver fill up her gas tank has purchased a home using money raised for him on a GoFundMe page, launched by the woman he saved, according to multiple reports.

Kate McClure, of Florence Township, started the campaign on Nov. 10, shortly after Johnny helped her tank up, the GoFundMe page says.

"Johnny sits on the side of the road every day, holding a sign. He saw me pull over and knew something was wrong. He told me to get back in the car and lock the doors. A few minutes later, he comes back with a red gas can. Using his last 20 dollars to make sure I could get home safe."

Because McClure could not immediately pay Johnny back, she started the campaign, which has raised nearly $400,000, and recently announced that much of it will go toward a new home, truck and trust fund for Johnny.
