Carl Kurt, 101, Of Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — Carl Kurt, 101, died July 7, 2016.

Born in Germany, he immigrated to New York City in 1937.

He led a most remarkable life. He was a resident of Fair Lawn for more than 60 years and was a member of the Fair Lawn Jewish Center for as long.

He was the son of the late Leopold and Bertha Reinach; and brother of the late Ilse Strauss.

He is survived by Ilse (Stern) Reinach, his loving wife of 70 years; son, Dr. Norman Reinach and wife Amy; daughter, Linda Reinach Friedland and husband Steven; grandchildren, Amy Cohen (Dr. Micah), Alexander and Alissa Reinach, Jason (Jamie), Michael and Jillian Klein; great-grandchildren, Jonah and Jesse Cohen and Asher Klein; and nephews Larry and Jerry Strauss and their families.

Kurt was a proud graduate of the City College of New York and a decorated veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Battle of the Bulge. His medals include the Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal and the Croix de Guerre. He was a business executive in New York before retiring.

Services will be at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Robert Schoem's Menorah Chapel, 150 West Route 4, Paramus, followed by burial in Cedar Park Cemetery.
