Daniel A. Crifo, 69, Longtime Glen Rock Resident

GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Daniel A. Crifo, of Glen Rock, died on Saturday, Feb. 18. He was 69.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Crifo moved to Glen Rock 43 years ago. He was a parishioner and lector at St. Catharine Roman Catholic Church in Glen Rock.

Before he retired, he was an actuary and assistant vice president with Verisk Analytics, formerly Insurance Services Office, for 40 years. He was an associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Crifo enjoyed model railroading, reading and the Jersey Shore. "An enthusiastic supporter of all his children's endeavors, he was known for his grace, intelligence, compassion and dry wit," information from the funeral home noted. 

He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Bald) Crifo; children Nicole Crifo and her husband James Gilmartin, Michele Mercurio and her husband Joseph, Daniel Crifo and his wife Julie, and Suzanne Crifo; and grandchildren Grace, Henry, Sophia, Joseph and Daniel Jr. 

Crifo was preceded by his parents, Salvatore and Mary.  

Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 22, at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Rd., in Fair Lawn. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. Catharine's, 905 South Maple Ave., in Glen Rock.
