Donald E. Fritzsch, 87, Former Fair Lawn Resident

FRANKLIN LAKES, N.J. -- Donald E. Fritzsch, of Franklin Lakes, died on Wednesday, Jan. 11. He was 87.

Born in Clifton, Fritzsch was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He lived in Fair Lawn before moving to Franklin Lakes 10 years ago. He was a groundskeeper for Ridgewood's Parks and Recreation Department until he retired, in 1995. 

He was a member of the American Legion in Fair Lawn and a member of the Faith Community Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff.

Fritzsch is survived by his wife, Harriet, and his children, Linda Bush and her husband Ernie of Sussex, Duane and his wife Andrea of North Haledon, Kathy Visbeen of Hawthorne, John and his wife Dawn of Highland Lakes, and Donald Jr. and his wife Jane from Tomball, Texas.

He is also survived by his 25 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and siblings Lillian DeBoer, George Fritzsch and William Fritzsch. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Bud Visbeen.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, Jan. 14, at Faith Community Christian Reformed Church, in Wyckoff. Vander Plaat Funeral Home, in Wyckoff, assisted with arrangements.
