Garfield Litton 76, Of Glen Rock

GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- Garfield Litton, of Glen Rock, died Wednesday, Aug. 31. He was 76. 

Born and raised in Portland, Maine, he settled in Glen Rock in 1972. 

Litton was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Ridgewood.

A graduate of Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, N.Y., he went on to be an industrial designer and creative director for many years prior to retiring. An avid writer throughout his life, he ultimately had a book of poetry published. He also enjoyed oil painting, drawing and photography.

He was the husband of Rosalind (Licciardello) Litton; father of Melissa Vaccari and husband Roman and Christian Litton and wife Kate; grandfather of Gianna, Lorenzo, Santino, Chiara, Isla and Kellan; and brother of Wayne Litton. 

A funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth RC Church, 700 Wyckoff Ave., Wyckoff. Interment will follow at Christ the King Cemetery in Franklin Lakes. The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn.
