FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Gerd Ommundsen, of Fair Lawn, died Sunday, Aug. 28. She was 88.
Born and raised in Snig, Norway, she moved to the United States 70 years ago, residing in Brooklyn prior to settling in Fair Lawn 55 years ago.
She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Bergenfield. An avid cook, Ommundsen enjoyed baking and spending time with family and friends.
She was the wife of the late Stanley Ommundsen; mother of Ernest Ommundsen and wife Linda, Lloyd Ommundsen and wife Debra and Ellen Johannessen and husband Oistein; grandmother of Kelly, Lorraine, Katrine, Michael, Lisa and Joseph; great-grandmother of Lincoln, Emily, Coleson, Maverick and Lotte; and sister of Asta Rasmussen. She also is survived by many nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus. Family and friends are asked to gather at the Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Rd, Fair Lawn, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Calvary Lutheran Church.
