FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- James Noorigian, 96, of Fair Lawn, died Sunday, Oct. 2.
He was born in New York City and raised in Paterson; he's resided in Fair Lawn since 1952.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during World War II, he was a member of American Legion Post 171 of Fair Lawn. He was a member of St. Leon Armenian Church in Fair Lawn. A vintage car enthusiast, his cars were in countless movies and TV shows. He also enjoyed tennis and swimming, which he did into his 80s.
Prior to retiring in 2006, he owned and operated State Tire Company in Fair Lawn for 50 years.
He is survived by his wife, Emerald (Lamb) Noorigian; children, Richard Noorigian and wife Vicki and Janice Walkowitz and husband Jeff; grandchildren, Brett, Gregory, Jared, Josh and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Lilianna, Abigail and Reese; and brother Leon Noorigian.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Leon Armenian Church, 12-61 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral service is planned for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Leon Armenian Church. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
