Marilyn Kathryn Thomforde, 90, Of Fair Lawn

FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Marilyn Kathryn Thomforde, 90, of Fair Lawn, died Friday, Sept. 2. She was 90. 

Thomforde was born in Newark and raised in both Harrison and North Arlington. She was a 30-year resident of Fair Lawn and a former resident of Teaneck and New York City. 

She was a natural-born people person who dedicated her life to learning, teaching and volunteerism. 

In 1947, she proudly graduated from Montclair State College and began her career in the corporate offices of the New York Telephone Company working in design and business, and later went on to continue her career as a teacher in many public and private school systems, including Our Lady of Lourdes in Paterson. She also was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fair Lawn and the Garden State Grandma's. 

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert; and her daughter, Carolyn. 

She is survived by her three daughters, Diane, Denise and Debbie Stadler; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Jessany, Joanna, Carissa and Charise. 

Visiting hours will be from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Vander Plaat Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior Lutheran Church, at 22-15 Broadway, Fair Lawn. Interment to follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Lakewood. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the March of Dimes, Attention: DRFR 1275 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains 10605.
