FAIR LAWN, N.J. – Michael J. Schindler, of Fair Lawn, died Wednesday, June 1 after a battle with leukemia. He was 55.
Born in Philadelphia, Pa., he resided in Brooklyn, N.Y. before moving to Fair Lawn 10 years ago. He earned a bachelor’s degree in theater from Ithaca College in 1982.
He loved all sports and especially enjoyed golf, tennis, yoga and tai chi. He owned and operated Lightning Shakes New York, a special event planning and services business, for more than 20 years. He remained active in the business until his passing. He also shared his enthusiasm for revelry with his community in Radburn, hosting many family and community events throughout the years.
He was the husband of Tiffony (Kidd) Schindler; father to daughters Kaia, 9, and Luca, 7; son of Sondra Gavzy and husband Paul, and of David Schindler and his wife, Mary Ann; brother of Lisa Wagman and Janey Dean; and stepbrother of Leah Jungkind, and Matthew, Aaron and Joshua Gavzy.
A graveside service is planned for at 1 p.m. Monday at George Washington Memorial Park, 234 Paramus Road, Paramus.
