FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Michael Steven Allen, 60, of Fair Lawn, passed away Thursday, Dec. 24, 2015.
He was known to many as "Superman," an avid animal lover and a genuinely funny guy who could fix just about anything.
His favorite saying was “You can’t fix stupid.”
Allen was a parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn, a member of Elks lodge #60 of Elmwood Park and Fort Lee Volunteer Fire Department #4.
He was an operating engineer with International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825 in Springfield for more than 22 years.
He was the father of Christopher Allen and wife Trisha of Fair Lawn; grandfather of Victoria and Gianna; 11-year companion of Diane Fama; brother of the late James Allen and surviving wife Lori of Denville; great-nephew of Agnes Stenek of Saddle Brook; uncle of Brian and Jason; and best friend of John McCloskey of Fort Lee.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Fairview.
