FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Warren A. Nelson Sr., 90, of Fair Lawn, died Wednesday, Oct. 5.
He was born and raised in Staten Island, N.Y.; he resided in Elmwood Park before moving to Fair Lawn in 1975.
A proud veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II, he was a member of V.F.W. Post 281 and American Legion Post 171 of Fair Lawn. A faithful member of Warren Point Presbyterian Church in Fair Lawn, he served as an elder and deacon of the church. He also was a member of the Happy Seniors and Fair Lawn Seniors.
Prior to retiring, he was the director of corporate maintenance with Maersk Transportation at Port Newark for many years.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Marshall) Nelson.
He is survived by his children, Warren Jr., Wayne and the late William Nelson; sister, Bernice Swanson; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. Cremation will be private.
