FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A longtime resident of Fair Lawn, William Edward Albrecht, died Wednesday, Aug. 17. He was 93.
Born to Edwin and Mary Albrecht, he was raised in Lyndhurst with his predeceased siblings Eileen Carman, Edwin Jr. and Katherine.
He proudly served with the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Whitman and U.S.S. Eberle during World War II. He was employed with N.J. Bell Telephone for 38 years. He enjoyed traveling, reading about history, working around the house and serving as a Boy Scout leader of Troop 147 of St. Anne’s.
He was the father of Eileen Albrecht-Specia and husband Richard, Terence Albrecht, Stephen Albrecht and wife Jane, Janet Albrecht, Karen Vignola and husband Dave and Gary Albrecht and wife Melissa; and grandfather of Joli, Megan, Rory and Mark Specia, William Albrecht, Christian and Lauren Vignola and Matthew, Luke and John Albrecht.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Anne R.C. Church, 15-05 St. Anne Street, Fair Lawn. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus.
