The city police Emergency Response Team hit the East 26th Street residence Friday, leading the way for Narcotics Unit detectives armed with warrants, "in response to numerous complaints made to the director’s and chief’s office by area residents and from the City Council," Police Director Jerry Speziale said Monday.

Besides the heroin and crack, police also found several bags of marijuana and two bottles of Promethazine, an antihistamine that acts as a sedative, he said.

Charged with various drug offenses were ere Demetrius McCutchen, 40, and Jerome Alexander and Damien Thompson, both 35.

McCutchen and Alexander live in the second-floor apartment that was raided, Speziale said. Thompson lives a few block away, on East 25th Street, he said.

"The narcotics unit is vigorously attacking from all angles and will pursue anyone involved with illegal drugs in our city," the director said.
