FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A large deer was struck by a vehicle and thrown over the divider of Route 208 in Fair Lawn during Tuesday's evening rush, witnesses said.
There was no immediate word on occupant injuries.
Traffic was down to one lane in both directions after the 8-point buck was struck on one side and hurled onto the other near Maple Avenue, witnesses said.
Deer have often been struck on the highway in Fair Lawn, Franklin Lakes and Wyckoff.
Authorities have recently issued warnings because it's mating season.
