Officers stopped the car on northbound Route 208 at Harristown Road after the driver failed to maintain his lane or signal a lane change, Sgt. Brian Metzler said Monday.

The driver, 30-year-old Nicholas Colella of Walden, NY, had marijuana in the car, Metzler said.

Police arrested Colella and his passenger, 41-year-old Lenard Best of Paterson, after discovering outstanding warrants for Best out of Mahwah and Paterson.

During a search at police headquarters, police found that Best had stashed 7 ½ ounces of MDMA, two tabs of LSD and 58 bags in his pants, the sergeant said.

Colella -- who records show was arrested on drug charges five weeks ago in Ulster County, NY and a year ago in Newburgh, NY -- was released by Fair Lawn authorities pending a court hearing on drug charges. He also received two traffic summonses.

Best, meanwhile, was sent to the Bergen County Jail on drug charges and the warrants.
