FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Fair Lawn police seized more than a pound of pot and arrested two local men during a Thursday night raid.

Detectives and uniformed officers armed with a search warrant hit the Elmary Place home just before 8 p.m. following a month-long investigation sparked by a tip, Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

Arrested as they were walking out were Michael Abelev, 19, and Jaewon Choi, 20, he said.

Inside, detectives "seized over one pound of marijuana, contained in mason jars and Tupperware containers, and assorted drug paraphernalia that included glass pipes, plastic baggies, sandwich bags, digital scales and grinders," Metzler said.

"Also seized was $16,126 in cash and assorted prescription pills packaged for distribution," he said.

While that was happening, a 2014 Volkswagen travelling on Elmary Place "made an abrupt u-turn to leave the area" and was stopped on Burbank Street at Floral Place by Officers Nicholas Snyder and Edward Egan, Metzler said.

The driver, 18-year-old Edmond Elezaj, was arrested and later released on a summons "after evidence of marijuana use was located inside his vehicle," the sergeant said.

Abelev was charged with charged with various drug counts and ordred held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail.

Choi was released on a summons charging him with drug paraphernalia possession.

Detectives Paul Donohue, Peter Yuskaitis, Karen Censullo and Officer Mark Wyka worked the case with Detective Sgt. Tim O’Shaughnessy.
