Officer John Tarantino stopped the car at 1:22 a.m. Saturday for having an obstructed windshield and discovered that the passenger, 37-year-old Harley D. Duarte of Philadelphia was wanted on various weapons and drug offenses out of Centerville (Queen Anne County), MD, Police Chief Dean Ackermann said.

He also was carrying heroin, crystal meth, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, Ackermann said.

The driver, a 58-year-old Philadelphia woman, was also arrested for possession of marijuana.

Duarte -- who was on probation after serving 18 months of a 10-year sentence for theft -- remained held in the Bergen County Jail pending extradition proceedings.

The driver was released pending a Municipal Court hearing. She also received a summons for the obstructed windshield, Ackermann said.
