Police had to wait for the final determination of the Bergen County Medical Examiner.

As Daily Voice reported on Tuesday, an officer returning from a traffic detail who parked next to the 2003 Chevy Impala found the body around 1:15 p.m.

The victim "had suffered a gunshot wound to the head with a handgun resting on his lap," Sgt. Brian Metzler said.

"From a distance, the Chevy looked like a police car," one officer said Turesday. "You wouldn't have thought anything of it at a glance."

The man wasn't a police officer, the sergeant said.

The Bergen County Sheriff's Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.
