YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: The top of a waste hauling truck struck the Forest Avenue overpass on eastbound Route 4 in Paramus just after 4:30 today, spilling debris onto the highway and clogging already thick traffic.
The crash occurred moments before a Route 4 car fire near Spring Valley Avenue. Combined, the two incidents backed traffic to Broadway in Fair Lawn, motorists said.
Witnesses said the trucker pulled over about a half-mile or so down the highway after the overpass was struck.
The bridge didn’t appear severely damaged, although a 2-inch chunk of concrete apparently was knocked out.
No serious injuries were immediately reported in either incident
