GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- The Glen Rock board of education on Feb. 13 made a preliminary move to eliminate six middle school sports clubs next year it says are already offered by the Glen Rock Recreational Department.
The programs slated to be cut include boys and girls soccer, boys and girls basketball, softball and baseball.
In a letter to parents dated Feb. 16, schools superintendent Paula Valenti said the board “determined that exercising this efficiency during this preliminary phase of the budget process is best to prepare a fiscally responsible budget for presentation to taxpayers” on April 24.
Valenti stated there would be additional budget discussions and at least two work session meetings to permit trustees to craft a final 2017-2018 budget before then.
