National Walkout Day was cancelled in Hackensack due to security concerns, school officials announced.

"In response to security concerns brought to the attention of administration at Hackensack High School earlier today, Tuesday, March 13, the walk-out planned for tomorrow has been cancelled," Superintendent Rosemary Marks and Asst. Superintendent Andrea Parchment said.

Instead, student organizers shared a presentation in support of the students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas students, which will be streamed to all classrooms via the school TV Studio.

Student Mackenzie Carroll felt despite the cancellation, it was important to raise awareness toward school violence.

"Students need to hear the names of the victims and listen to their peers explain the importance of using their voice in order for the message to hit home," she said.

Hard work went into sharing the stories of the victims through the "Enough" movement, HHS student Alysia Colón said.

"This movement has caused the school to come together to fight for a common goal," she said. "We were all extremely upset when the walkout was canceled, but felt the need to contribute in whatever way we could alongside the rest of the students across the country fighting for that same goal.

"We consider ourselves part of a huge team and we did our part."
