ORADELL, N.J. — Sixth-graders from the Oradell Public School are helping Grateful Doggies with its rescue and transport mission.
The students raised $279 for the Fair Lawn-based organization as part of its Grade Giveback project.
Grateful Doggies founder Steve Quilliam plans on using the proceeds to cover vet bills — his organization's primary expense, he said.
Once or twice each month, Quilliam takes his Grateful Doggies van on a road trip down south to pick up shelter dogs in need of homes.
He transports the dogs back to his New York retreat where they stay for vetting and rehabilitation until they have forever families.
