JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- Two teams looking for turnaround seasons aim to get started on a winning note when Fair Lawn travels to meet Dickinson in the high school football opener for both teams on Friday, Sept. 4. Kickoff is at 6 p.m.
Fair Lawn finished 2-8 last year, while Dickinson was also 2-8.
The Cutters have not had a winning season since 2009. Coach Amir Saadah believes the experience gained last year will prove beneficial this year. The team's offensive line returns four starters, including Sef Basci, Matt Forte, Tarron Douglas and Mike Laboy. Sophomore Damian Rongo takes over at quarterback.
Dickinson's football team was cut in 2009 due to budget constraints and low participation. The Rams played junior varsity and freshman games for two years, and last year played varsity games for the first time since 2009.
Fair Lawn compete in the Big North Conference Liberty Division while the Dickinson Rams compete in the Hudson County Interscholastic League.
