Holtsville Man Nabbed During Fatal Overdose Investigation, Police Say
Police on Long Island have arrested a man in connection with a fatal overdose.
Holtsville resident Nicholas Mayfield, age 40, was nabbed in Uniondale at about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, Nassau County Police said.
According to police, Mayfield was taken into custody after authorities began investigating the fatal overdose death of a Nassau County resident.
Further details, including the victim’s name, were not released.

Police are searching for a suspect after a Long Island woman was killed in a hit-and-run crash.
Suffolk County Police Fifth Precinct officers responded to a 911 call regarding a body on the grass in Holtsville on the side of North Ocean Avenue, near Fish Road, at approximately 7:45 a.m. Sunday, May 21.
The victim, Jennifer Bianco, age 42, of Bay Shore, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police.
It was determined she was struck by a vehicle.

A Long Island man is facing years in prison after admitting that he stole a car with a sleeping toddler inside and then crashed into a guardrail while under the influence of alcohol.
Paul Ludeman, age 56, of Holtsville, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including endangering the welfare of a child, in Suffolk County Court on Tuesday, April 25, stemming from the February 2023 incident.
According to the Suffolk County DA’s Office, Ludeman was drunk on Feb. 14, 2023 when he stole the vehicle, which had a 14-month-old child sleeping inside, and drove away in Greenport.

Holtsville Woman Killed After Being Struck By Pickup Truck On Mount Sinai Roadway
A Long Island woman was struck and killed by a pickup truck while crossing a roadway.
The incident took place in Mount Sinai around 10:55 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 3, on County Road 83.
According to Suffolk County Police, Ann Marie Montgomery, age 42, of Holtsville, was walking westbound on northbound County Road 83, north of Canal Road, when she was struck in the left lane by a 2018 Ford F150, driven by James Gerardi.
Montgomery was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician from Port Jefferson EMS, police said.

An inmate being brought into a Long Island jail before going to prison was busted attempting to smuggle drugs and weapons inside, according to the Suffolk County Sheriff.
