Glen Rock's Painting With A Twist Pairs Pals, Paint

GLEN ROCK, N.J. — You don't need an artist's touch to join the fun at Painting With a Twist -- just some snacks, good friends and maybe a bottle of wine.

The Rock Road studio provides the rest."It's all about laughing and having fun," said owner Cheryl Siracusa, who got hooked with her husband on PWAT when they visited their friend's studio in Pennsylvania in 2012.

Guests can sip on drinks and munch on goodies while painting an original piece of work with guidance from an artist on a stage in almost any state in the country.

PWAT was founded as Corks N Canvas by two Louisiana pals looking to pair friendship and instructional art in 2007. They franchised it two years later.

"The environment, excitement and great music" drew the Hawthorne couple, Siracusa said.

PWAT offers daily 2-3-hour sessions, private events and fundraising opportunities, such as "Painting with a Purpose." An after-school program is in the works.

The studio once a month will donate proceeds from a painting class to a charity or cause "close to the heart of an artist, my husband or myself or something needed within the Glen Rock community," Siracusa said.

Classes are between $35 and $45.Participants will be able to choose which painting they want to make on the studio's website before registering.

"It doesn't matter what kind of mood you're in when you come because you'll come out with not just a painting but the experience of having so much fun," Siracusa said.
