As part of his confirmation project for Saint Anne's Church, the Fair Lawn High School sophomore created Cleatz 4 Kidz -- "C4K" for short.

Vann, 15, said he plans to collect and clean high-quality, lightly-used soccer equipment and donate it to underprivileged Paterson youth.

"I believe that every child should have the ability to play soccer," Vann said. "Soccer has been a huge part of my life and I want to spread the beautiful game to everyone."

C4K is partnering with Paterson Youth Soccer, through which he said "I will distribute the equipment directly to children and families who really need it."

Equipment can be dropped off at the Fair Lawn All Sports Complex on Harristown Road between 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday and 3-7 p.m. on Saturday.

If you can't make either date, Vann said he'll arrange to pick the supplies up if you e-mail him at cleatz4kidz@gmail.com.

"You will be giving a child the gift of soccer by simply getting those old cleats out of your basement and donating them," he said. "I will handle all inspecting and cleaning of equipment. Just bring your cleats, shin guards and soccer balls and I’ll do the rest."
