GLEN ROCK, N.J. -- A holiday artisan fair on Sunday in Glen Rock will benefit Maya children and families in Guatemala by supporting Limitless Horizons Ixil.
Planned for 11 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Sunday at the Glen Rock Community Church Fellowship Hall, 354 Rock Road, the sale features jewelry and accessories, ornaments, woven scarves and shawls, bags, stuffed animals and more.
The sale is a fundraiser for Limitless Horizons Ixil, an education nonprofit that works in the indigenous Ixil area of the Guatemalan highlands.
The organization supports the Maya community of Chajul, which has an agricultural economy where the average income is $2 per day. The sale helps Limitless Horizons Ixil provide education and opportunity to Chajul.
In Chajul, Limitless Horizons Ixil has a community library that introduces kids to books for the first time, a youth development program that provides scholarships and support like mentors and career planning, and an artisan program providing women with income and independence.
