FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- Elsie Madeline (Erhard) Scherer, 98, of Fair Lawn, died Sunday, Oct. 2.
She was born in Jersey City, raised in North Bergen and resided in Fair Lawn since 1948.
She was a former parishioner of St. Anne R.C. Church in Fair Lawn. She also was a member of the Fair Lawn Live Wires and the Ambassador Club of the Lipton Corporation. Prior to retiring, she was an executive secretary with the Lipton Corporation in Englewood Cliffs for 25 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Scherer; and brother, William Erhard.
She is survived by her children, Karyn Muller and Wayne A. Scherer; grandchildren, Heather Schnaars and husband Donald; and great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Brittany.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Vander Plaat-Caggiano Funeral Home, 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn. A funeral Mass is planned for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 17 Pompton Ave., Pompton Lakes. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
