Fair Lawn, N. J. -- Raymond J. Bruno, a U.S. Army veteran and Fair Lawn volunteer, died Sept. 22. He was 86.
Bruno attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio, then went to serve as a U.S. Army Sgt. First Class from 1951-59. He earned two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantry Badge for his work during the Korean War.
Bruno is survived by his sons Raymond J. (Cheryl), and Jeffrey Bruno; and his daughter Cynthia A. (Douglas) Nicol, and his friend and former wife Beverly. He also is survived by his grandchildren Christopher, Colin, Michael, Jonathan, Kinsey and James Bruno; Samantha, Cooper and Connor Nicol; and great-grandchild Everly Bruno.
Bruno worked for the Borden Company and later as an insurance professional for Prudential Insurance Company for 32 years. After retirement, he served as activities director at the Whitehall Residence and, for the last several years volunteered daily at the senior center in Fair Lawn.
Cremation occurred at the convenience of the family.
