FAIR LAWN, N.J. -- A Brooklyn man wearing heavy clothing in the day's heat was found carrying 160 bags of heroin marked "Diesel," Fair Lawn police said.
Officer Anthony Lugo approached Nicholas Harper, 31, as he carried a backpack on Fair Lawn Avenue at Chandler Drive just before 2 p.m. this afternoon and talked to him "after observing [him] acting suspiciously and wearing heavy clothing not appropriate with the hot weather," Sgt. Brian Metzler said.
A search turned up needles and the heroin, he said.
Harper was taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center in Paramus for an evaluation in police custody. A judge ordered him held on $150,000 bail, charged with possession of the drugs and the needles.
