That's because the Wyckoff PBA is in the midst of its “Beards for Becca” campaign to help raise public awareness for pediatric cancer.
The officers are helping Rebecca – an 8-year-old Wyckoff girl who is scheduled to undergo her last chemotherapy treatment in November – in her effort to raise money for research and programs for pediatric cancer patients.
Rebecca, known as Becca Boo, has a goal of raising $100,000 for Tackle Kids Cancer, an initiative out of the Children’s Cancer Institute at Hackensack University Medical Center, where she receives her treatment.
“We are hoping that the Beards for Becca campaign provides a unique way for us to draw attention to an important issue, pediatric cancer,” said Kevin Pinches, president of the Wyckoff PBA. “The fundraising goal Becca has set for Tackle Kids Cancer is very ambitious, and we want to do whatever we can to help her.”
The Wyckoff police are not the only ones joining little Becca in her fight to raise awareness and money. New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning is also teaming up with Becca. The pair filmed a video together to help raise money for Tackle Kids Cancer.
Becca hopes others will join in her mission. “If I can fight hard and beat cancer, then we can raise this money and then some," she said.
